I think this might explain the "randomness" .... Opening a command prompt and typing "net use" I see (G, H, I, K, P, Z have a status of OK) (R, S, T, V, Y have a blank status)4. With windows7 being "better" and "faster" than vista or xp it is quite possible that this will occur more often than before.Anyway I checked my GPO settings and have the Always iPods, any mp3 player, flash drives, just about anything USB will use a drive letter. With either solution make sure the drives are only being mapped in one of the places. Try it!
