Another add-on is Cyberhawk, it doesn't scan, but it monitors all incoming, outgoing and internal activities - it's a nice compliment to all the others. I've run Norton and Dell several times and it usually doesn't turn up anything, and when it does (the last few times it says it's detected viruses/trojans/cookies much after I scanned)

Find the startup entris for Norton and disable them, click Apply then OK and restart your machine.
