After re-booting, I still get the "Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed" error.
If you can check there, it might help narrow down the root cause of this issue. The sfc /scannow did not give me any leads as it did not report any problems as well. This command fixed it: Click Start, then type: cmd
I deleted my Recordings.xml file and my problem was solved. Click Certificates, and then click Add.
