Media Center Error

I do understand that certain movies will not be able to play on the my xbox 360 due to certain codecs, but would this stop certain movies from playing all together? Anyone? Gotta say, too, I didn't see this noted on The Green Button, on Hack7MC, or on any of the other places I looked (xpmediacentre.com.au, DTVForums.com.au, etc).
